In conjunction with Matt’s Place, a foundation that supports people living with ALS, Seattle firm Miller Hull Partnership designed modular mass- timber houses that can be configured quickly in a variety of shapes and sizes. The prototype has wide hallways to facilitate wheelchair access, recessed outlets and junction boxes to eliminate obstructions, and smart home systems that residents can control with their eyes. Best of all, the houses are designed for multiple people to ensure that, after an ALS diagnosis, patients and their loved ones can continue to live together.
