Black and Latina-owned jewelry brand Valerie Madison Jewelry is expanding from ecommerce to brick-and-mortar with a flagship location in in Seattle’s Madrona neighborhood. The 74-year-old storefront was renovated into a modern shop by Best Practice Architecture, which was inspired by Valerie Madison’s elegant aesthetic and its owner’s interest in plants and geodes.
The showroom is home to both lush plants and velvet furniture, while the jewelry itself is kept in custom cases to best show off the handmade pieces and collection of geodes. The geode theme carries over to the consultation room, which has a natural-looking quartz wall enveloped by a subtle gradient in soft purple hues around the space.
Lighting and mirrors are used to give the space a bright and inviting feel, while the exterior is painted in an abstract play on the retailer’s “VM” initials. Office and manufacturing spaces are kept behind a velvet curtain at the rear of the building, preserving the luxury and comfort of the showroom.
