POSTED AT THE Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Show Pony Boutique (Seattle), designed by Seattle-based Best Practice Architecture, offers travelers a store that the firm describes as a “jeweled box” and aims to transform airport retail through a curated boutique experience.
The design blends the airport’s existing architecture, using predominantly white oak and white powdercoated metal. Though the space of the activation’s layout is limited, its compact design makes the most of its materials by integrating a white oak-covered island for storage and ample shelving and is framed with a powdercoated steel skeleton for overhead lighting. It includes a dressing room for quick changes for traveling shoppers. This sleek use of materials and thoughtful layout allows for a luxe retail experience in the middle of an airport.
Its exterior features two steel signs with the brand’s iconography, “a star and a pony – custom fabricated and backlit to stand out in the busy terminal,” according to a press release about the store. The Show Pony Boutique utilizes its compact space through sophisticated fixture design and intelligent use of space to offer travelers a polished shopping experience.
